what maschine and configuration do i need to run redcine?
mac:INTEL
ATI graphics card
pc:INTEL
Nvidia
Why do i need the ATI graphics card for a mac and cant use a Nvidia for redcine?
because redcine is a GPU based program, and Nvidia drivers suck on a mac.
what maschine do i need to run red alert?
redcine is mac only: INTEL
the graphics card doesn`t matter, because red alert is CPU based.
Can i make proxys in redcine?
No, you cant. red alert and the red one itself are able to generate QT proxys.
Can I edit Proxys on a PC?
No.You can`t.
Can I edit and view the Proxys on a Mac?
Proxys can be viewed in QT after installing the QT plugin from here

and can be used for editing in FCP with this plug in from here

You cant import the Proxys into AE or something else, you have to render the proxys within FC to another codec (Pro Res)
How can i make Proxys?
you can create Proxys only in Red alert, which runs on a mac.
Has REDCINE / RED ALERT any limitations?
REDCINE:
mac:
No proxys can be generated.
sometimes problems with 4k@16:9
PC:
no proxys can be generated
1st frame can freeze.

4k@16:9 seems to work good.
RED ALERT:
you cant make proxys of 4k@16:9 .r3d footage
What about the audio recorded into the Red One?
REDCINE:
No audio functions, audio doesnt appear while playback, and is not there after export.
RED ALERT:
Audio survives the proxy processing step....you can rip your audio out of the proxys without a loss in compressor.
