  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED101 DVD Now Shipping!

Ketch have you ordered one? I've been filling orders all day, but don't recall seeing you.. I am NOT pressureing you my friend.. Just wanted to make sure I did not miss anything.

Jay

No Jay I haven't ordered, as I personally don't have the need for one, unless I decided to give it as a gift, but have been suggesting it al over the place :) as for what I have seen here and there, and of what the people involved directly have told me is a great DVD to have if owning a R1, or intending to own one and or rent one.

Best luck Jay.

I saw the entire DVD and learned so much from it. *It's a definite must have for anyone using Red.

A couple of questions though. I've been told that the two bolts that hold the red handle can break. *Is this true? *What's the weight capacity that this handle can support? *ie when lugging around a fully loaded 40 lb Red.

In the video, you used a DSCLab chip chart to make adjustments to a clip. *What software were you using to bring the colors to there respective spots in the vectorscope hexigon? *I couldn't recognize it but it looked windows based.

Thanks for a good product.

Luis... You are at the top of my "Good People" list...

Someone once told me: "If no one posts on your thread, it means they are busy using what you sent..."

So I know it took some effort to come on here and say something, but it's really helpful when you do. So thank you.. To everyone else, I'd love to hear from you!

Now about your questions:

I have never had one of those bolts break off, anywhere, let alone the handle. It may be a good idea to ask someone in the RED camp (Jarred? you out there) if there is a maximum weight load on the handle, but personally I am willing to guess it's far beyond whatever load you could put on it without breaking your wrist!

As for the software I used, it was Color Finesse on Adobe Premiere. It's fantastic software if you are color correcting on the cheap.

For added strength, no matter what weight setup I have RED in, I always use the handle extension. That gives me four bolts supporting the weight of the camera below, rather than two. The extension is inexpensive and adds hardly any weight to the rig.

Just watched 101. Really nice job Jay. You taught me things I should have known.
Entertaining too. Thanks for making it available.

and the bonus was more than hot. It was blazin!!!

If you happen to be in Buenos Aires this week please stop by the BVS TV Broadcast booth for a look. I'm at CAPER all week and would welcome the opportunity to show off Jay's great work. Autographs are free of charge! JOKING. They cost $1.00

I received my Red101 DVD yesterday and have already watched most of it. I wanted to say thank you and congratulations on a job exceptionally well done. I have not yet had my hands on a RedOne but I feel that if pressed I would now have a good idea of what is where and how it all fits together. This is exactly what I hoped for, and you delivered.

Thanks Jay.

I really thrilled you guys liked it! Mike Curtis from HD for Indies has requested a copy for the purposes of writing an article... So hopefully that will put things in a positive light.

Overall I am very happy! And I am thrilled you all like the DVD.. The more feedback you all send, the better the future looks for an EPIC / SCARLET DVD!

Jay

Mine just arrived, but I'm more excited about the "Motion Portraits: Fire" DVD it came with! Errr, I didn't order that- is it my Christmas gift?

Merry Christmas.... Enjoy it.. I actually put a lot of work into those things...

Jay

Thanks!- I'd be happy to pay for it though, I'll definitely be getting use out of it. I used to have one that I really enjoyed. I'm gonna go and drag my other tv out here so I can watch them both at the same time...
