Ha!!!:weight_lift:
My Red with Leica, the mount is rock solid and cost me 90 euro's! If anyone's interested, the guy who made it is thinking of making more of them, and attaching it is as easy as attaching Red's Nikon mount (so there can be no trouble with the warranty)

I presume this is for Leica R lenses?
I'm very interested! Can you please post pictures of the mount itself?

I'm a too busy today but maybe tomorrow I can post images of the thing itself. It was really very simple for someone who knows how to work with metal, and at least the collimation ring didn't have to be removed

Just be sure that he sends a mount to RED for approval, don't want to go the p+s route of saying that it doesn't void the warranty only to find out that it indeed does...

Ask your friend if he'd be interested in making a Canon mount. If he delivers quickly, the interest would be substantial.

Leica R mount

Okay, let me make things clear before this gets too big or unrealistic expectations are raised.
This is by no means a commercial enterprise. The goal was not to compete with Birger or P+S. The reason why I went this way was
-because I didn't want to pay many hundreds of euro's for a mount that would void the warranty because the collimation ring has to be removed
-because I didn't want to buy a product from companies or individuals that do not answer emails
-the distance from sensor to lens is such that only the PL mount has to be removed (and not the collimation ring) which makes the principle of the thing dead easy

The guy who did this with me is interested in making more mounts, but not the one you watch here. As you can see this is hardly a professional looking product; it was the test prototype we made just to see if we understood things correctly. It works perfectly for me, but it isn't the pretty thing that my friend would like to sell. For one thing, he would make it out of one piece of aluminum (though I liked the look of the bronze ring on my black Red), instead of the two rings you see here. This means that it wouldn't be ready very quickly.
If you are in a hurry, I can tell you what we did: the bronze ring is a flat disk of 3.6 mm thick, 9.3 mm wide and has a hole of 5.4 mm. It has the eight screw holes in it that are the same as the ones in the PL Mount. In fact this bronze ring is a flat and thinner version of the black ring inside the PL mount. We used that black ring to calculate the holes for the 8 screws that Red uses to screw mounts to the body. Do not use the original screws because they are too long. They are m3 torx screws of 1 cm long. Onto the bronze ring we screwed a leica to canon adapter that you can buy at Enjoyyourcamera.com for 30 euros. I had been thinking of buying the more expensive one--270 dollars--by Novoflex because I thought that would give me a more solid product but was warned at B&H New York that it was in fact so solid I would probably never be able to get it off my lens again. The one for 30 euros is perfect.
This is as simple as it is. Be sure however to have it done by someone who really knows how to work metal; if you have no experience, even making a screw hole in metal can be a messy business. And ofcourse have it done far away from your camera!
If this whole story freaks you out, my friend will be able to make one, but not within a few weeks time. A Canon mount may also be possible, but we would first have to experiment with that.
And ofcourse, if you think all this is very unprofessional, which I'm sure it is, use the Birger or the P+S and spend the remains of your money:calm:
greetings,
Hans
