Is it just me, or do these two renders lead others on this board to believe that a RED follow focus and wireless unit is a real possibility for the Epic and Scarlet?

I have seen a website or two that has speculated on the subject, but nothing definitive from RED. Maybe I have just missed it on this board. It certainly wouldn't be the first time.

It seems like a lot for RED to provide at that price point, but if the Pro Redmote is a wireless follow focus control (along with its other obvious tasks) that would be pretty damn amazing.

Almost 3am ... Must stop drinking coffee after dinner.

Given the difficulty of some in getting out a solid wireless unit, and the apparent demand for more choices, I would be willing to bet all the pennies in my pockets that RED has plans for this.

from what i gather the redmote pro is a wireless follow focus unit that will control the focus motors in (electronic) RED, nikon and canon lenses. gnarly.

To not need an actual geared FF unit would certainly be interesting.

To be able to communicate perfectly with Nikon and Canon would also be a major accomplishment. Especially considering that the auto focus on some of the Nikon lenses can be tricky even when using a AF Nikon camera.

Anyone know if the RED Pro Primes incorporate the electronic contacts that I know some of the RED zooms contain?

The RED Pro Primes don't have lens data. Only the 18-50mm and 50-150mm standard zooms have lens data.

The new Pro 17-50mm and 18-85mm don't have lens data either. We will have to wait for the Red Electronic FF35 lenses....
