  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

I have the DSMC Top Handle mounted to the top plate of my Epic. What I want is to be able to mount my monitor on the front side of the handle. The problem is the Bolt-On SWAT Rail Clamp is 90º in the wrong direction. Need you guys to make another version that allows for me to bolt it onto the bottom of the monitor bracket so that I can clamp it onto the front of the DSMC Handle. Seems like this would have been obvious, but it just doesn't work as currently configured because I don't want to have just a single screw holding a very expensive monitor, which will inevitably come loose. And the spacing between the single threaded hole atop the three does not work for attaching to the monitor bracket.

Or a simpler solution is to make the front rail on the handle a two-way rail allowing for sliding the current clamp in either direction. That might be a mo' better solution.

So how 'bout it? Can we make this happen?

Hmm, not exactly what I had in mind, adding another part. Plus, it only is held on by a single screw and would spin. And it is larger than the front of the handle so that round part would stick out. What would be best is if the front of the handle had the extensions top and bottom so the clamp could work either vertically or horizontally.

Honestly, I don't know why the bracket on the monitors are made like they are, requiring more parts to attach to the camera. Too many bits for something that should be simple on, simple off.

None of these really solve the issue of wanting to simply slide off the monitor from the DSMC handle. I still prefer the idea of making the front rail a two way fixture so as to allow the clamp to go either vertical or horizontal.

I use a Cinelock (http://16x9inc.com/shop/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=32) on the front of a WC top handle (but any top handle with a 1/4-20 would work). Slides on and off in an instant...

Like the round swat rail, still another piece of added gear that is unnecessary if only the DSMC handle had the option of a horizontal front rail. Would be pretty simple to modify the design, just add the top and bottom rail and it'd be set.

A machinist may be able to re-tap the Swatrail clamp with another hole so you could mount the monitor as you want.
