  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

That makes better sense and sounds like a good compromise. Thanks for taking our concerns into consideration.
 
I don't think that the double name will be a good solution specially in the future ( the same camera with two names ). I can't really say that I feel good (sound wise) with the WEAPON name, but I am sure that at Red they gave a lot of consideration before they choose the name and maybe after we will all find out what the new camera does, maybe it will change our minds.
Of course the STEALTH sounds better but if it can't be changed then let it be WEAPON. ''The camera it is not how it is called but what it does'' Don't forget the market's reaction with the Red One, what we went through to make the DoPs to use it.

"Stealth" meaning it won't be labelled. The camera won't be labeled with anything except maybe "RED"

And time and again... RED continues to "AMAZE" with the absolute show of interest to PLEASE as many end users as possible...


Now all of those that DON'T like the "WEAPON" name can have a "NO NAME" RED Camera... Hope they'll be happy now... As for me... I'll be sporting with great PRIDE the name "WEAPON"... :)
 
I don't think anyone can claim RED doesn't listen or worse, that you guys do not care. Of course you care. Of course you listen.

If anyone asks me why RED is special I just have to point them to posts like this.

I think the name should be changed to Weapòn or Wéapon or however the french might pronounce it. Perhaps it sounds a little less...macho. More artistic.

(I jest my French brothers, no offense meant. Just making light of the name controversy.)
 
NO NAME will be a big help.

If Stealth could be extended to the printed arrows and chevrons then that would be an added bonus. But the "this way up" printing is small fry compared to the WEAPON branding.

+1. I like the idea of a totally black box- will save me a fortune in masking tape.
 
For those who are going Stealth, it would be cool if the RED badge was raised black lettering. I would go that route if I had to choose between the two. But I'd say I'm in the camp that thinks waiting for RED to actually unveil the new camera is probably the best bet at this point. It might all make sense once we see it. Not saying that doesn't still pose problems for some though, especially anyone that does a lot of traveling with their gear. But I want to give RED the chance to present it before completely attacking the naming decision.

It speaks volumes that you find a way to accommodate genuine concerns some of us have without abandoning something that is obviously important to you.

While the name Weapon might be an awesome working title I am more than pleased to have the option to keep it just that - an internal name.
A big Thank you for that option and the upgrade path. I don´t feel forced into anything and I´m more than happy about the ways offered to keep updated.

This is a perfect solution! I doubt anyone will have a reason to complain now, but I'm sure someone will think of something...

I love the weapon name, but totally understand those who do not, security concerns or otherwise. Awesome solution. :)
 
My hat is off to RED for taking everyone's concerns into consideration and offering helpful and meaningful response.

As an aside, I sort of like the name "Stealth." (I know, I know, it was a U.S., military bomber.) It would look good on the side of the camera. :smiley:

Haha just want to make sure to those around me that Those brilliant images I'll be making are with RED DIGITAL CINEMA :)
