So I'm looking to get my Weapon airborne and after talking to Red it appears they do not have any lightweight options. Previously you could use the side handle with a redvolt and boom! It's ready to go. Now we have to add the Redvolt XL module with a redvolt xl. Substantially heavier. Also, we need the weapon base expander for HDMI out, which would be required either way.

I am looking to get the Weapon airborne on a Freefly Alta, with a Movi M15, Freefly Wedge with Redrock motor, and amimon connex for hd video downlink. With my calculations I have slightly exceeded the allowable weight.

Here is the full set up:
FreeFly Alta
Movi M15
Freefly Wedge (FIZ control)
1 RedRock torque motor
Amimon Connex
2 aux battery packs for Movi (1 for Movi, 1 for Wedge)
1 more 3s Lipo for amimon connex
2 Flight Packs (2 large Lipo batteries to power Alta)
Weapon with base expander, xl module, and redvolt xl, mini mag
FPV Camera with transmitter (weighs only about 300 grams total)

Any ideas from anyone how to cut down on some weight, different power options, etc? As usual, I appreciate any feedback!

Imho, this is exactly why we need a side handle with a redvolt! Or similar lightweight option.

Why not just power the camera off of a lipo if not off of the same lipo running the Movi?

It's just a standard 4s Lipo. You think it can power the Weapon and the Wedge at the same time?

Specs:

Battery Type: Lithium Polymer
Capacity: 2.6Ah
Voltage: 14.8v
Max Continuous Discharge: 3C (7.8A)
Max Burst Discharge: 5C (13A)
Max Charge Voltage: 4.2V per cell
Minimum Discharge Voltage: 3.0V per cell
Dimensions: 100mm (L) x 25mm (W) x 30mm (H)
Weight: 200g

You'd have to run the numbers and get a battery with the appropriate discharge rating to power the camera and the gimbal, but there is no reason it can't. Both the camera and the gimbal are light wieghts amps wise compared to running motors on an octo.

Has anyone found a good battery to power both Movi and Weapon?

I think the Weapon CF is the lightest and smallest thing around for 4K plus and quality. Smaller and lighter and easier to config than a Mini... I would say a Lipo and you are off and running.

I run around with a Nikon lens and a Lipo in my shirt pocket and I am good for a long time.

Has anyone found a good battery to power both Movi and Weapon?

I use simple hobby grade 2200mah 4S 30C Lipos to power the following: Movi M10, Weapon, Cinegears FF and Connex. I get about 25 minutes out of a battery, which is plenty for aerial work as you'll never get that much flight time from an Alta with that kind of payload.
