  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red vs Film test!

Yes

Yes

Yes, it was on Wanted. We did it. Side by side. The results were stunning. RED could look just like it, or better, with a greater response. And that was back in 07.

I don't think there were that many shoots where the same action was shot on 35 mm as well as on RED. This could be a very interesting comparison.

Interesting. When you say greater response are you talking dynamic range or the response people had to the Red footage vs film?

What stocks were being compared?

What was the type of lighting involved, tungsten, HMI?

I know a lot has changed since then, but this still gives a reference point.

Thanks Jon!

Hi Guys ,

In India Myself along with a senior cinematographer Mr.Santhosh Sivan had shot a series of comparitive shots both on Red and on Kodak film 500 ASA & 250 Asa. As of now we are doing the DI at Prie Focus and hpe to see the results tomorrow on a large screen projected on a film print. My only trouble during the shoot was the camera had a major booting problem. Every time we had to shut the camera down for a battery change it wouldnt re boot and we had to keep on re trying until it got sorted. At one time it even took 45 minutes to get back to working shape. I wonder if anybody has faced these kind of problem and would hae a suggestion........ The build of the camera is 15. We used Master primes and the red lens 18 to 50.

Its still there in build 16. Easy solution is to remove either LCD or EVF cable from the camera and restart. It works. Then once camera boots, you can connect either of the cable for shoot. Sorry for posting it very late. Unable to come to your shoot in Chennai. Hope to see you and work with you in near future.
