Anyone interested in a Red User Conference? I'm thinking 3 days in a sunny location near a beach in October. Location suggestions?

I was thinking Dominican Republic in the Caribbean because of the weather in October, the inexpensive all-inclusive accommodations and the inexpensive international flights from many countries around the world.
(Punta Cana International Airport).

Any other suggestions?

i doubt i can afford a vacation now, but if RED sponsors it, and some other companies get involved, talking about new products, maybe some classes, etc. THAT i could probably justify. :)

Has to be within US for greater international participation. Dominican Republic is not a feasible option.

Hi Joofa: You probably know a lot more about this. Can you explain? I would think having it in D.R. would increase International participation due to fewer legal restrictions on travel, closer proximity to South America, Europe, Africa and Middle East? Isn't it easier to travel to D.R. from most foreign countries than to travel to the U.S.?

Would Puerto Rico (U.S. Territory) be a good compromise?

P.S. I'm thinking high-profile guest speakers, in-depth classes, demos, small 3rd party vendor pavilion and most of all networking and a couple great parties. :)

But where is the majority of RED USERS based. Are there more international RED USERS than US based ones? I don't know. I think we should base it some where close to an airport just because of travel accommodations making it more feasible for people to attend.

Although the most reduser comes from the US, but there are a lot from europe and more and more from Asia.
I prefer DR or better carrebean.

You'll get about 5-10 people actually willing to go to the Dominican Republic IMHO. I really can't think of a single conference I've ever heard of there. Make it NYC or LA if you want decent numbers especially if you expect vendors and speakers to show up. Otherwise might as well make it the North Pole. Rudolf the RED nosed reindeer is clearly a fan...

Hi Joofa: Can you explain?

I just think that it is easier for people from so many countries to get to US than first get to an international port of entry in a 3rd country closer to DR and then move on to DR.

Yes, these are good ideas.

Uhm, we had this, it was called NAB and the RedUser event. At this point, there's not much more you could do than what we did.

Now a year from now would be good. Then you could coincide that with NAB 2009.

Hi Shawn... I was thinking it might be good to have something 100% Red at the halfway point each year that would go into greater depth. Also, something on the east coast or in the Caribbean might be easier (and less expensive) to reach for Red owners and users overseas and in South America. Plus, I was thinking intense sessions over a period of a few days which isn't really possible at NAB. What do you think? Also, would be a much less expensive way for Vendors of Red accessories, add-ons and software to reach core group.

Los Angeles, of course. Then for the after meeting party we can all cram into a few grey hound buses and drive over to Red. Can you imagine a few thousand RedUsers in the Red factory? :)

FORT LAUDERDALE or MONTEGO BAY, JAMAICA... mon.
