  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED underwater too noisy?

Nbut would need time to design a comprehensive set of tests so that we all actually get something out of it, instead of me just playing with your rig for free :-)

I appreciate that, I get so tired of seeing a lot of tests on dive/photography websites that are so poorly designed that they are essentially meaningless and just serve to spread misinformation.

it doesn't really solve the problem if the sensor is particularly noisy in the blues.

Rudi - could you follow-up on this? I was under the impression that the blue channel noise on Red was just your typical sensor-is-less-sensitive-to-blue (thus putting blue farther down in the noise floor) phenomenon. Do you know of a reason why the sensor would actually be more noisy in one channel than another? I sort of assumed, as deanan posted, that cooler scene temps would be a /good/ thing, noise-wise. (I'm guessing that lower light levels underwater might undo this benefit, though.)
