  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED TWO will be a new camera or an upgrade?

I think for the foreseeable future, Epic is the Red Two. There are obviously some things that can be done in terms of processing power, connections and outputs that currently can't happen in an under $20K system.

They have already promised a sensor upgrade to Red One, and build 16 seems to be proving that the magic of firmware updates is working well.

Seeing that the RED's upgradeability was not in adding K's to the resolution. perhaps its fair to say EPIC sensor upgrades wont be in K's neither. In other words those wanting a 6K camera in a few years will be buying the next camera after epic.

Wondering if RED TWO will be a RED ONE upgraded for us at fair fee, or will be another camera altogether?

Also, hope the Scarlet wont take too much of their attention away from the RED.. I loove these firmware upgrades!

Sorry that RED Two will be the 3D version of RED one.

You can upgrade RED one anytime you want from Build XX.....

I am not a dreamer in the RED Blood Sky.

If I had the choice between 5k or 4k at 60fps, I`d take the 60fps personally, but that R1 upgrade would need a new sensor, processors and motherboard, I believe, as Graeme says the R1 doesn`t have the bandwidth to handle it. My impression was always that, when the time comes, the guts of the R1 could be ripped out and changed at Red HQ, and the beautiful case would live on, but I think "rendering obsc.." etc was only refering to the fact that the R1s specifications are ahead of the game, and they probably will be for a good while, but upgrades other than the sensor upgrade will probably come in the form of other cameras I`m now guessing, we`ll see.

Dont see it as a brand new camera. Just an upgrade. and it shouldn't be a separate purchase each and everytime. RED could be hip and green and be the most sustainable camera company out there.
