Red touch work on ex1 camera?

I was wondering if anyone has hooked a red touch LCD to the sdi out of a Sony ex1?

Won't work. The RED LCD's are not based on SDI signaling to start with...

One would nee to make a converter box that translates SDI into RED's proprietary DVI-like signal for the image. So, yeah, 99.9% sure it's not going to happen.

Hi Barry,

If you look at the cable you will see it's completely proprietary, with no inputs, power cables etc. which means you can't use it on anything other than Red.

Bottom line is you would spend countless time and money to try to make it work, more than likely destroying it in the process.

I see. Well I wont try. I was filming stationary and had the LCD with me, just wasn't sure if it would work. I just wanted to set it up so I can surf the web and spot check every now and then to make sure the presenter was still on screen. I trudged through it :/

For those situations a $150 DVI/HDMI monitor is your best bet. Looks great and perfect for framing/focus checks.

It's not even that great of a monitor.. Just get a TVLogic or SmallHD
