Ever since investing in my Scarlet-X a few months ago, I've deeply wondered why my RED Touch 5" LCD screen seemed to flicker consistently... It was only until today, when I stumbled upon a menu option a few layers into the camera.
Menu > Settings > Display > Monitor Control
Monitor > Brain LCD > Frequency
It was extremely surprising to notice that the default value for the LCD screen is 30.00 Hz, and a quick switch to 60.00 Hz fixed the LCD flicker in a split second. I could not be happier - it was such a gift to find a refresh rate option.
My question to the community is why the RED team may have decided to default this setting to 30.00 Hz? I've been on a few other RED productions where the LCD had a similar refresh rate flicker, and I'm very confused as to why the firmware defaults aren't set to provide the best quality out-of-the-box.
