  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED TOUCH 5.0" LCD -VS- DP6-SDI — 5.6" Field Monitor

I've only worked with TV-Logic, it's a bit on a bulky/heavy side - wonder if anyone has compared it to DP6

I don't have real world comparisons between the DP6 and the TVLogic, but when I did extensive research into both the recurring wisdom I got back about their differences was this:

They BOTH use the exact same screen, literally. From the same factory.

But how they each generate color is proprietary, and the prevailing wisdom was that the TVLogic had slightly more accurate color (the DP6, some alleged, was a tad "green").

But I am merely repeating here-say, so someone with more experience should probably weigh in if they know more than my web cribbing.

I have a Dp6 and I was not 100% satisfied. So I brought it to a dealer that sells tv-logic and did a side by side comparison. It was clear the TV-logic was more color accurate. Before I bought the Dp6 I looked at the TV-logic and the I read that Dp6 could show the RED menus. That was the reason I choosed it over the TV-logic since I was not sure it would show Menus from Epic/Scarlet. Anyway I will have both the RED touch and the Dp6 for the focus puller. For pulling focus Dp6 is good and since whitebalance is metadata in RED cameras I can live with a slight yellow tint of the DP6. Hopefully they Small HD go another firmware update that iron out the tint.

I'm looking at the Marshall V-LCD70XP as a replacement.

It's 600 less which is another DSMC Power Pack, or close to another 64GB SSD.

Tempting...tempting...
