Hello. I'm a field editor.
I can't English well.
so understand my english plz.

We are using three cameras. I want to edit the scene in real time.
But RED OUTPUT is only 720P.
So I capture HD monitor. with aja SDI-SD converter and AD converter

I tried to edit with proxy QT, but in MBP so slow and Unstable.

Yesterday we tested.

I have three computers and three SD converter, AD converter, HDD to prepare.

It can real-time capture.
but i want to edit one main MBP, so the other two HDD, recieved with USB.

It can Edit!!

but very complex. Is this wise?

who know other way?

I want to edit just in field real time.
no matter EDl, Timecode.
just realtime editing...

my workflow in filed..this blog..

The newest beta can play back from the camera in 1080p.
You should be able to grab this with the AJA HDIO or Matrox MXO2 to a MBP in Prores and happily edit along. I have not tried this (we don't own either), so someone plaese confirm they can do progressive.
Watch out, though: with the AJA, you'll need an Express-card for the drives, with the MXO2, you can't use a card and need to use FW drives.

I can do the MXO2 test next week. Soon, I will be able to do MOTU V4HD test, too.

The last time I checked, the MXO2 (has that actually been released?) was to cost about $1500. If you're shooting with 3 Red cameras and have elaborate enough set monitoring to allow feeding an editing computer live on set, and can't afford $1500 for a device that allows this to happen, then either you or the people you're working with/for are in the wrong business. I don't mean to sound crass, but that's the truth. If one is going to work as a professional in any business, there are costs associated with knowledge and equipment that are required for that work. Those costs are now more minimal than they've ever been, but there are still costs. Things like boxes that allow you to do things that weren't even possible 2 years ago don't come for free and should not come for free.
