DSC Labs is happy to launch the RED CamBook, a set of three charts and a pretty sweet cover.

It's so new that we barely have had time to put it on our website, however, here is the link http://dsclabs.com/new_products.htm

If you have any questions, feel free to shoot me an email at michaelw@dsclabs.com

Thanks,

Michael Wiegand

That looks fantastic Michael. Can't wait to see the chart for real!

I know Michael... Never trust anything that man says. I'll bet you he drew those charts with crayons.

Michael is a friend... So I have to give him trouble on here..

Nice....

looking forward to pricing...

Available for purchase at NAB?

What about the top-secret custom zone plates that are kept in the floor safe at Graeme's house? :)

Zone plates are tricky! The one we use was custom designed for us but only goes up to 4k which is just not enough these days, and it's enormous.

Understood, but still it seems an odd choice to have two framing charts (white and mid-grey), but nothing to check backfocus/sharps?

Two framing guides are because there's so many Epic framing options, a single chart with them all is just too cluttered. We wanted a good neutral 18% grey, so that's there, as is a good neutral white. For backfocus, try here: http://dsclabs.com/free_charts.htm

When Jim submitted the MX to an Arri DR test I couldn't tell of it was a bold move or folly. Now we prepare for the return volley. One thing is certain; this game is just beginning.

There's more to a camera than how it performs on charts, but good charts tell a useful story. We were told by some traditional camera manufacturers that the Bayer pattern was not good for digital cinema, and that their RGB stripe method was better. They charts show otherwise. But charts only confirm what we see in practise - notice the bad vertical luma aliasing in the Sony F35 shot Dr Who last Saturday.

Cant wait to order these! as for back focus Graeme, you might want ask Jarred if he will let you try this :)
