Hello all,

a quick intro: While a long time lurker here on Reduser.net forums I never got round to actually registering, as I felt I lacked a good reason to take part in the discussion. I don't have a RED camera, but I'm planning on buying a couple of Scarlets. I'm a technology journalist of 20+ years, but I make a living by doing quality control for a Scandinavian film distributor.

Now, the reason I finally registered is this Blu-ray I worked on. It's a Swedish movie called "Lassemajas Detektivbyrå: Kameleontens Hämnd" (translates roughly to "Lassemaja's Detective Agency: Secret of the Chameleon"). It's a children's movie about two kids, Lasse and Maja, who solve crimes taking place in their home town.

Note that at this point the only proper RED footage I'd seen were a couple of movie trailers and that teaser of Peter Jackson's. I also wasn't aware of any Scandinavian movies that had been shot on RED.

As I was viewing the Blu-ray, I couldn't help wondering whether the movie was shot on RED. It certainly wasn't shot on 35mm film. Digital HD video, definitely. But the image didn't look like any other shot-on-HD movie I'd seen in the past. This looked a whole lot cleaner and much more dynamic than anything I'd seen. I lack the vocabulary to describe it any better than that; suffice it to say that I could see a difference with a naked eye.

So I skipped to the last chapter and watched the credit scroll. And sure enough, after half a minute this appeared:

RED datahantering Jonas Hed

And a while later:

RED transkodering & exporter Steffan Kvarneke

At the risk of sounding a bit up myself, I'm pretty chuffed by my hunch being correct!

Any questions? Fire away.

cheers,
.: petri

Thank you, eastco.

BTW, I've asked the producer of the movie for a permission to grab a screenshot or two from the BD to display here. Dunno if anyone is interested in that, tho.
