  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED STATION

Gaff tape.

Well...I don't know about everyone else, but I would really prefer if Red put their resources into getting the EVF's all done and sorted instead of a glorified card reader. Don't get me wrong...I'll probably buy them down the track, but I've been unable to buy any sort of EVF unit from Red since I bought my camera back in December 2009 and it's a frustrating thing to try and get perfectly focused shots while moving using the LCD monitor in full daylight. I guess I continue to wait......

Storage and DIT work is very important also, no point in having a focussed shot if your data gets creamed after it.
Also I doubt the team behind RedStation is the same team behind EVF's so theres no split of resources.

Don't forget that the RED EVF is made by AccuScene, a Scottish company (now owned by Red). So the resources used in making the Red Station has zero effect on the development of the EVF.

Sorry Shayne is right. Our EVF guys went on vacation for 3 months then came back and got distracted making a prototype for a great new invention that miraculously lets you properly toast bread in a microwave.

We decided this was way more important of a breakthrough so we put the EVF ( and everything else ) on hold till its done.

My lord.

slackers.

I guess the reason Scarlet has yet to ship is because the Red team sits around the office all day smoking the reefer talking about cartoons eh?

Base Station eliminates power adapter coming out of each module so you only have one power wall wart coming out of the whole stack.

Of course you can also use Bus Power over firewire if you want to power the CF Module all by itself. You dont want to do that though if you start daisy chaining things together over firewire.

Don't mean to nitpick as I severely want these. However, wouldn't it be quite possible... even a good idea. To simply get a $50 battery backup power strip and plug all these modules into that. Then plug that ONE power strip plug into your wall. No wart. And you have 2hrs of power. And save $200 dollars. Just an idea. Does the power module have battery backup? Would be awesome.

heh heh heh after a few years of reading incredibly dumb-ass comments like Shaynes, I need to lay down a few passive-agreesive responses every once in awhile or I would loose my mind :)

Oh you mean the toast in the microwave isn't real? man, I was so looking forward to that... I suppose the M-X or an epic in a few months will have to do...

But does it toast REDTOAST1 or REDTOAST2? And more importantly, is it compatible with all the accessories? Like butter, Jelly, Jam, Marmalade, Peanut Butter, Beans, Marmite and Vegimite?

:)

Oh come on... not even industry standard toast is truly compatible with vegimite.

What really pisses me off is that these RED team slackers take time on most days to sleep and eat. Think of all the time wasted when they could be getting me my fricking camera that much sooner. Where are the priorities here??

Damn, that's a shame. I'll have to wait for the Letus ground glass butter knife to interface the two. One more piece of equipment AND weight.

ugh no more adapters for me... i think i will stick with the red juicer and just live with the soggy toast.

There are a number of RED EVFs for sale on the used market. Shouldn't be a problem getting one right now. And in terms of LCD, there are a number of solutions to deal with light hitting the screen (Hoodman, the LCD>EVF converters, etc.).

In terms of RED Station being a glorified card reader, if it does the job reliably and solves some of the problems that other solutions have, then it might end up being a bit more than just an off the shelf reader. Not sure anyone has used one yet, so might be best to reserve judgement until they are available and tested.

We should never pretend to know what's going on behind closed doors at RED. I think the response you got from Jarred is probably frustration based on people making lots of assumptions without any facts to back them up. I'm sure he wasn't directly attacking you as much as making a point that it's not fair to the folks at RED when statements are made that don't reflect what's actually happening.
