I'm sure this has been covered before but I've got the RS 1.8" and I'm trying to get it to interface with my Macbook Pro. I've got it hooked up through Firewire 800. The drive is on but isn't interfacing with the computer.

Is it: I need a ssd for anything to show up?
Some software I missed?

I'm in the same boat as everyone else waiting on backordered SSDs and I'm just trying to make sure that it works.

I'm guessing it is that I need a ssd. For some reason I thought it would show up like a hard drive and then have the SSD within that.

The MBP is reading a hard drive that I have daisy chained to it so I feel confident about that.

I have no doubt that it will work but everybody likes to test out new gear right? :hat:

I think you're right in that you need an SSD for the media to mount. Otherwise it is like the drive slots in a Mac Pro tower. There are 4 of them but you don't see them unless you have a drive to mount installed.

You can also check under system profiler as it should show up there as a device connected to the FW bus.

Correct, you'll need an SSD in the slot before anything shows up as "mounted" on your computer.
