Was wondering how people would feel if the RED STATION REDMAG was not included in the basic SCARLET-F package, any opinions? The RED STATION seems necessary (like the Travel Charger to the REDVOLT), but what about the Gigabit Ethernet Port. Could they strip the package to the bare bones and let us offload with that instead? Does that have the interface speed to handle transferring 3K files at adequate speeds?

Since we know the SSD Module will be standard in the SCARLET as well [Emphasis added for relevant points]

SSD.. with an optional CF to SSD adapter for people that want to still use CF cards. This is just one of the changes to the original posted package.

But Jarred hinted that a RED STATION is needed to complete the system for SSD, so I don't know what to think.

(...) You don't need to buy the SSD mount or cards for Scarlet if you do not want to... you can still use CF cards. Of course SSD's are much, much faster so the capabilities are higher with an SSD.. but now since you have that side SSD module as standard when you are ready to go from CF to SSD you are only a Card and a RED STATION away :)

I like it bare bone. So you dont want to pay for stuff you already got. Hoping to se a kit with sidehandle, ssd module, battery for the sidehandle, 5" lcd.

Two things...

  • Yes, the RED Station is required when offloading media from the RED SSD's.
  • Something to think about when putting packages together. Will the package fit everyone's needs?

The reason why I have a problem with the idea of RED including the RED Station with the Scarlet package is because in fact, not everyone will use it. When companies buy 4 Scarlets, they don't always need 4 RED Stations. They may, but they also may only want 1 or 2. These kind of things are what make packages so difficult to put together.
