Red Station Cable

Hi everyone,

I have maybe a silly question, but why the Red Station (for mini-mags) is delivered with a DC IN cable (5V)? The station works without that outlet cable, I always take that cable with me but I don't really know why.

There was a post back a few years where Red told folks NOT to use the power cable. It's not needed anyhow since the Station can be "Bus" powered through the USB cable. Can't remember the exact reason but if correct the power cable could damage the unit (or some had issues which was why it was suggested that it not be used).

Thank you for your answer, quite funny they still deliver the station with this cable!

I am pretty sure the power cable is required for eSATA to work.
