  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Starter Kit

I am not sure what the rod standard size and distance apart are for ARRI and other film cameras but I suspect with RED shooting for a production level camera with a PL mount they will adopt this standard. Anyone know what that standard is?

15mm rods are used on 60mm or 100mm centerline spacings.

Do you know which spacing (60mm or 100mm) is more common. From the Arri cameras I have used they all have seemed to have the same spacing. Before now that spacing really didn't effect me but now I will need to start checking out FF's and Matte boxes.

Hi Finner,

I poked around the net a little bit and it seems that the 60mm spacing is used mainly with 16mm cameras, ENG and those little prosumer camcorders. The 100mm spaced rods are found on 35mm cine and some HD video cameras.
Call Jerry Kosan at JBK Cinequipt. He's a good guy and makes nice support equipment for cameras. I'm sure he can guide you down the proper path.
