RED SRORE - no RED drives?

[Laco Zamba]

I cannot see RED drive and RED-RAM in RED store.

[Martin Weiss]

Both are currently backordered (see http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7253 ), but it is strange that they have disappeared from the srore... (http://www.red.com/store/tags/digital_storage )

Maybe something big is coming up?

[Laco Zamba]

And maybe then we will find in B&H store very similar drives from unknown company with same specifications for half price

[Nook Kim]

Or.. maybe they are coming up with something better?

Cloud Storage

to risky... studios are already sketch enough at having a digital tapeless medium...

take that to the next level and have wireless network storage and forget it... studios will stay far away

LOL!!

Dailies are already in the cloud -

PIX (http://www.pixsystem.com/index.php) and DAX (http://www.daxsolutions.com/) are used by pretty much EVERYONE.

Just pointing out that "studios will stay far away" is just not a comment based in reality.

I thought I was making a joke.

initial acquisition..
are you telling me that they will have no problem with the first initial data acquisition being recorded this way?
i dont think so.. dailies are one thing.. but the initial recording is another

but I could be mistaken.. i wont discount that..

I for one, if i was putting up money for a film, would want HARD proof that I have recorded that $100,000 shot

[Zakaree Sandberg]

but actually is that even possible? is there a way to stream record that kind of data?

[Alex Carr]

If you are shooting in the parking lot of a data center.

[Zakaree Sandberg]

haha thats what i thought

Maybe spinning drives are a thing of the past? Can't be. Not yet. ?
