More than likely everyone is looking to purchase the Scarlet Interchangable, CORRECT? Yes. I think they should offer an interchangable package with the obvious add-ons that one would buy(NO LENS THOUGH), I'm talking battery/power, CF Module, REDMOTE, etc.., and whatever else we would obviously buy with the I.Scarlet.(<--not an apple product, just being lazy!)

Basically OFFER MORE PACKAGES!!!!!!!!! with a slight discount, and not the add 550 for this 500 for that, TOTAL.

Sorry for rambling.. And sorry if I do not make any sense. It happens.

We agree... it has been in our plan from the beginning. Just no need to post any more details that can change until we absolutely know where we are.

This is EXTREMELY good to hear, as we all talked about tis, in extensive detail some time ago, but never heard from RED as to if it was even a remote possibility that it would be done. I for one can see I am EXTREMELY pleased to hear this, and this just helps push me EVEN further towards expectation of the Scarlet eventual release.

Although i still bounce in between thew S35 and 2/3 interchangeable, I'm glad to know that with whichever path I choose to walk, RED is gonna look out for a brotha, lol.

Anywho, thanks Big Jim on this post, meant a lot to me, in particular.

Will we hear more about the scarlet packages on the 14th, or is that farther down the road?

.... have been racking my brain with calculations of all necessary accessories.

Give your brain a rest on the calculations...better to start thinking
of script..commercials..docs..music vids..and whatever you plan
on shooting when the day comes.

Most likely Red can not announce any sort of packages untill all
said products are finished and the production costs are finalized.
Last stage in the process would seem to be production bundles. Patience.

Thanks Jim! :)

The prices already posted have been useful for rough budget planning. Any discounts will likely be applied to more RED stuff.

Confirmation that there will be package bundles is really good news! Look 4ward to more details!

I have a feeling it is in RED's interest to cultivate a whole new wave of RED savvy young filmmakers and 2/3 fixed and interchangeable packages
are a great way to do it. It is a win-win situation for manufacturer as well as us consumers.

This is indeed good news. Maybe an interchangeable with all the basic modules as the Fixed minus the lens for around $4500 or so? I am sure there will be more bundles, and it makes sense that they are the very last thing to be announced. Or maybe even after the release.

How bout the opposite? Fixed-lens brain without the kit? If I wanted the Fixed brain but with a 5" LCD instead of 2.8", for example.

That'd probably screw up the economies of scale that make the Fixed kit so affordable, though, wouldn't it?

Hopefully, we might see a 3 tier package set that could be added to fixed or non. (with a small discount option for fixed with no package).

Basic - 2.8" plus goodies
Mid - 5" plus goodies
Pro - 9" plus goodies

cinesytle bundle
indy bundle
morph bundle ( assecoires needed to use all r1 assecoires)

btw. we will need new topmounts etc.

what about the ET baseplate/ET EVF Mount, will they be usuable with Epic?

This sounds very interesting...May have to consider a 2/3" cinema over a Fixed once again... :)

Well I was a 'fixed lens man' until I got hold of the Canon.

Jim,
If you consider 'trade in' deals on say..... Canon 7D, you might make customers of more then a few, who bought cameras in the last six months.
You might end up with a lot of unloved Canon bodies chocking up Red Headquarters though.
