Hi everyone!

Is it possible to get the unique serial number out of the R3D data or something which refers to the exact camera the clip was shot with?

Yep, real name forum. In big, bold letters when you registered.

EDIT> Paul's got it below. Just be advised that RED has been a bit wary of people doing a lot of poking around inside R3D files in the past, mostly they just don't want anyone doing their own debayer or whatnot. It doesn't seem as if the SDK gives us the camera PIN at this time, just the selectable ID. We can list the metadata entries from within REDCINE-X (right click on the clip thumbnail in the bin), but it doesn't tell me the camera PIN there for any clips I've tried. Hex editor seems like a workable solution for now if you need this info.

Yes it's in each clip. You can easily see it using HexEdit (on PC) as an example:

As you can see, the numbers match (and it gives Red a great way to trace back stolen cameras if footage goes through a facility).

I am glad to know this because it may help to prevent theft as well as possibly find stolen cameras. It would be neat if in Redcine-X or even NLE's had a feature where all stolen serials were added every update. Then if footage came through matching the stolen serials it'd immediately be flagged and either notify Red or at least the user so if they unknowingly rented/hired or even purchased a stolen camera they could take appropriate actions.
