Hey all-
I just wanted to inform those of you considering going to film school that the Berkeley Digital Film Institute has a RED in their class curriculum. It hasn't been updated on their website yet, but RED is in their arsenal.
You can check them out here...

Now if only we could get USC to adopt it... and we have been trying to figure out how to go about it....

There are those that embark on the new frontier, and there are those that wait for reports from the general consensus. I would suspect the universities will be among the ladder.

Ha! LOL. That is cool. Ya know.. I wouldn't choose a film school just based on what they are shooting on.. Well.. I didn't.. I'm long since done. Having a Red to play with would be added fun, if the students can get it away from the faculty! (That was the bigger problem at the schools I went to: new toys were in the hands of the instructors, the kids got the ignored old stuff).

Ain't that the truth. When I was in film school, they got their first Avid and it was off limits to any of the students. One of the professors however cut one of their personal films on it. Fortunately, as soon as I got out of school I was able to get on Avids and learn them. That's the way it goes sometimes. I would say in general, it's probably more important to learn how to do something (editing, shooting, etc) than it is to learn a specific tool such as an Avid or a Red. If you know the fundamentals really well, you'll be able to apply them to new tools.

RED and available!

RED and available!

Check out our film school. :nuke:

Soon taking RED #4261 (next couple of weeks)! Available to all cinematography students along with Super 16mm, 35mm lenses on P+S mounts on 720P and 1080P, stuff from Panavision... the whole gamut. :alien:

And we don't just teach skills, we develop unique, inventive creative individuals!

(sorry for the sales pitch but it's true!) :calm:

IFSS - proudly RED!!! (the future of film education) but just one of many tools.

Hey All,

I'm a university student from Spain and I'm doing my final project about digital cinema formats. I wanted to know where I can find more information about 2K, 3K, 4K and UHDV... in the FAQ's there is information, but I need more! with more details...

If anyone knows something please tell me! I would be very grateful!!

Hi Laia,

I really don't think this is the place to get these answers.

Mándame un privado con lo que necesitas saber y veré como puede otro españolito echarte una mano.
