RED Scarlet X Starter Kit for $13,065

Correct me if I'm wrong and I apologize if I missed something but couldn't you get an even cheaper starter kit if you pieced the Scarlet X kit individually and removed the DSMC Side Handle Component? Is the side handle required to make the camera operational?

EDiT: Just realized that the side handle is required to battery operate the camera. Man am I ever a numbnuts. I wish I could delete this post but can't. Can someone with god-mode clean my garbage up? Apologies.

Good questions.

Also keep in mind that you probably will need two Redmags, in order to off load one while shooting with the other.

I think I just figured it out. Unless you can battery operate the camera through some other means than the side handle.

The side handle is where the batteries go. You could get a battery plate and v-mount batteries as an alternative. That's what a lot of EPIC guys are doing.

well...no...need sidehandle in order to use a redvolt to power the darn thing. unless you plan on keeping it plugged in AC all the time. lol
