Hey guys,

I'm new to the RED Eco system... I've used the scarlet x before and loved it.

I work on a lot of fashion/narrative run and gun style shoots.

Currently use A7S II / Range of Canons / hands on with Sony FS5/7

But I'd like to invest into the RED brand as a run and gun style videographer I don't have alot of time to plan story board but still want all the details and colour ability in post. I'd also like to get more into Narrative for film festivals/feature length stuff.

I've been building a rig with a rep from RED in the UK.

I've got a budget of £21,000 could somebody give me the best bang for buck with this sort of budget.

Ideally something that can run aswell as be setup for tripod use etc.

Thanks in advance

RED has suggested packages now on their site. Might be easier to get thoughts from folks if you list out what you're thinking of, and asking opinions. Also look into common accessories companies like Wooden Camera and the like while researching.

Sound's like an amazing deal but if I was going for a battle tested older mark I'd be looking at a lesser system I shoot a few sporting events and wanted the capability of 100-300FPS so the 96fps would limit me. Sorry about that however there are alot of RED non users on the facebook group that are snapping up these sort of deals if you want to advertise there.

thankyou so much :) I looked into the switronics hyper core slim do you have any problem flying with them? or are they under the 100w allowance? I also looked into some sort of top/extended side handle so I could effectively hug the camera with 1 arm and shoot hip level stuff while follow focusing if needed? any idea for that?

My RED REP gave me this as a package...

SCARLET-W RED DRAGON® 5KBRAIN®
DSMC2TM Skin Tone-Highlight OLPF
DSMC2TM Low Light Optimized OLPF
DSMC® Al Canon Mount (Captive)
DSMC2TM V-Lock I/O Expande
rDSMC2TM RED® Touch 4.7" LCD
RED BRICK® Power Package(DSMC®)

RED BRICK® 153Wh x 2
RED STATION®
RED MINI-MAG®
RED MINI-MAG® 512GB x 1
RED MINI-MAG® 240GB x 2
DSMC2TM Universal Handle

any advice on this package? other than using external power and upping the 4.7 inch screen to a 7?

I wouldn't necessarily up the screen. I have been using the 4.7 and it's no slouch. In the times you need something larger, I would add the SmallHD 702 in addition to the 4.7. Use the RED screen as your "Control Module" and use the 702 as your super bright screen. Works wonders for me...

so your saying the 4.7 touch lcd is more than enough to pull/rack focus etc... Whats the deal with this foolcontrol app? do you still need a wireless follow focus for this to work? or is it electronically linked to certain lenses? I've seen people use it but not seen the full setup.
