I have a Red Scarlet with a Canon mount that I have never used in the field once. Unfortunately, I sat on selling the camera too long. What is the best way to get a decent price for the camera? This is the package I have :

I payed around $16k for it with tax and all when it first came out. Any advice? If I were to sell it, where are the places to get the best prices? Do I try to do rentals instead?

thanks,
j

There is only one reason why you are "selling the camera too long". Your asking price is too high. If you want to sell quick, lower the price and make a good deal for the buyer. Simple as that.

Textbook case of quoting out of context.

I think the OP meant that he took his time deciding to sell.
The Buy/Sell sub forum on RU is a good place and then maybe ebay (maybe simultaneously)

Hahha Arnold.... "Do I try to do rentals instead?"

Depending on what market you are in, but unless you plan on offering a full line of aks to rent with it I would think relying on rentals to get your money back would be a tough road. The camera rental business is not as easy as you might think and is pretty cut throat. Have you had any luck renting it so far? You might want to try to sell the items individually (on this site or ebay) at about 20-30 percent under new current prices, keeping in mind transfer and evaluation fees on the camera. You are obviously not going to get out of it what you have in it, no matter how little the gear has been used.
