It's not a package if it's the body, LCD and a set of old sticks, it's a camera for rent. Nothing to record to, no follow focus matte box lenses rails etc, all that runs almost. $1,000...

This is fine for getting people to your site. But everyone who casually glances at this thread or sees your ads, materials etc will think an actual package can be had for 500 from a rental house. If producers think that's the standard it screws all of us, you included, as somebody will offer an everything - but - the - lens package for 500 and suddenly, your cut rate deal is the expensive option.

???

Actually our Scarlet package come with:
SSD Module, 1XSSD 128GB Card, Side Handle, 4X Red Vault batteries, PL or Canon mount.

I have no idea what you are talking about. I will update the post with this info to don't let people miss understand like you.

Thanks

My apologies!! I called and asked, didn't get a name! I was told it comes with "the batteries it comes with" and sticks and the LCD and the body.

"no cards?"
"no cards, but you can accessorize it out any way you like"

I am under the impression that cards are not accessories, and unless you plan your day with zen precision, waiting to reload a magazine is untenable. It'sa great point of entry to renting a Red--and a talented filmmaker could make brilliance with just your package and a pinhole lens, while others struggle to make meaning with tens of thousands in toys. But a camera package is a camera package, not the bare minimum of equipment necessary to make it run. (for the record, does it come with a monitor?

As our industry settles on the merits of each new camera, money plays a big part in public perception. There is a big difference between a package at 500 and a body at 500. Certain owner operators will undercut even further--not for worthwhile projects but just shove the camera out the door--and soon we're all left with less at Christmas. And our camera is viewed as less worthwhile.

Not to be a price fixing goon here, forgive my tone...

Yeah $500 is confusing, as there are no sticks, matte box, follow focus, etc....this is possibly misleading and may...as Ryan says...give the impression that $500 is OK for a full package. Which it isn't. $1000 is a great starting point (with 4 cards, and a TV-Logic monitor)

Leonardo,

Your rental package is confusing. I found this company to be helpful in figuring out what comes standardized in a camera package. www.hdplanetcameras.com

BTW...how many cameras do you have?

If you only own (1) and I was to rent that camera, what happens when it goes down...would you be able to replace it so it wouldn't cost my production a down day at $$$ of dollars?

Our first post was made by one of my employees, and I do agree he did a confusing post!

We have many cameras BUT we are not open to the public anymore: WE BECOME a full time PRODUCTION COMPANY.

We do Feature Films, Short-films, Documentaries, Tv Shows, Reality Shows, Commercials, Music Videos and Corporate Videos. For more info please visit:
