Hi,

I'm converting a load of R3d files to quicktime using red rushes and it is working ridiculously slowly.

I did a job about a month ago and it ripped through the files. I downloaded what I think is a newer version of the red alert etc on friday and it's crawling.

I can't say what the previous version I was using but I think I downloaded that last august.

I'm converting 2k 16:9 to 1/4 h264 quicktimes. A mac pro 8 core 2.8ghz, 6gb RAM. OS X 10.5.4, quicktime version 7.5.0.

Looking at the CPU monitor it shows that the cores are barely being used.

I've set it to 1 clip at a time 6 cores per clip.

Any suggestions as to why it is going so slowly ?

Thanks.

Steve.

Try setting it to 1 core and 6 clips at a time.

Different debayer level? I get between 1:2 and 1:12 crawling performance depending on where it's set.

Hi,

thanks for replies. The debayer quality is set to 1/4.

As for the 1 core 6 clips I'll try that. What I don't understand is the previous version of red rushes automatically used the multi cores without me doing anything. I just loaded in all the clips, and hit start, I didn't know it was going to do a load of clips at once and was pleasantly suprised when I saw multiple clips being done at once.

Hi,

I tried the 6 cores per clip, still slow. Watching the percentage of cpu power being used in activity monitor it never rose above 8%, as a comparison my 3d program on a quick render used 777%.
