Can anyone advise me on getting consistent time code in Red Rushes?

No matter which time code settings I use in RR, my QuickTime files all start around 01:10:00:00, and don't match my R3Ds/proxies, which all seem to default to TOD.

I haven't spent much time with this as up until now I've only been interested in my transcoded files, but would like to keep everything future-proofed from here.

Red Cine appears to give me TOD in my transcodes, but can't seem to control RR.

Any advice?

Thanks!

Jim

Thanks Cail. I've tried External/TOD and Edgecode but it doesn't seem to affect the resulting QT. Haven't tried Clipfinder yet.

Are you applying an RSX file to your clips?

Email that to me if you are. (d e a n a n - a t - r e d)

Does this only affect the TC used in the QT proxy of the R3D file? The ALE generated from REDline should be fine as it lists both into their separate and distinct columns. In the case of MetaCheater, it would display the same issue listed here as it used whatever is in QT.

Deanan can you please explain if this is a known problem and in what circumstances it exist?

Thanks

G

It's a bug in RA where the menu selection for TC does not get updated properly. The workaround is to explicitly reset the menu selection. It's fixed for the next version.

Okay, I'm an idiot. I just had another look and found I could regenerate the Proxies using Edgecode, which now match my transcoded files.

Now I need to test whether this will get all the way back to the R3D or if I need to do something else...

The R3Ds contain two timecode tracks by defaults (TOD and Edge) as to the QT wrappers but most applications only show the primary one. When you choose edge or tod before you remake the wrappers, it sets the preferred one as primary. Same for transcoded QTs.

BTW, great interview on fxguide!

Hey Deanan,

Thanks for the info and glad you heard the interview! I LOVE Red and I hope that came across!

Cheers,

Jim
