This is the first time I've tried using red rushes since installing FCS3, and Build 20.1.3 on the camera, and rr only renders 1 frame; and nothing appears in the output folder??

I then tried to rr some footage shot on Build 20.1.2 (which I've previously successfully rr) and got "error".

I'm running RedAlert 20.1.6, QT codec 3.8.

I reinstalled the latest build of RedAlert (20.1.6) but still got the same problem/error.

EDIT: Just tried to export the same clip with the same settings using RedAlert and it WORKED, so the problem would seem to be isolated to red rushes...

I'm using the same workflow I've been successfully using for about 6 months (copy media from red drives onto my MacPro's internal RAID).

We've got a shoot on Saturday and I've got to have this working...help!:willy_nilly:

Try using "render in terminal" from redalert.
redrushes uses redline also, so that could point to what might be wrong.

Thanks for your prompt response Deanan. Please excuse my ignorance, but how does this help?

"render in terminal" in RA uses redline the same way redrushes uses redline also. If there is a problem, in RA using this method then it could help me at least figure out what problem you're having.

Righto.

Nothing happens when I press "render in terminal"...

Still not working...Any thoughts deeply appreciated!

Thanks Deanan-- I actually already did a reinstall of RedAlert 20.1.6. Do I need to do some kind of "uninstall" first, because I didn't do any uninstall??

What's odd is that this was all working perfectly prior to FCS3...

Yeah, very odd. If you open a terminal and type REDline, does it work?

Yes:

"Input filename needed.
usage: REDline v20.1.6"

mmmm...

Shot some fresh footage today and rr is working...Shot on a different red raid, 4K HD. Earlier footage shot was both 3K and 4KHD, so don't see how that could be to blame. Will test some more tomorrow.

EDIT: Only worked for 1 clip! Now I'm getting "Error" for every clip I try, including the clip that worked the first time. Gonna keep trying...

Send me an email (deanan a-t red). I can look at one of the clips that's causing problems for you.

PM sent.

RED is unbelievable...

:cheers2:

For the record (of the thread):

To MUCH embarrassment, the "problem" was a non-alpha/numeric numeral (an "&" to be exact) in the folder name, within which I had stored my clips. NOTHING to do with RED.

Deanan was INCREDIBLY responsive and I apologise to all for wasting his (and your) very valuable time.

The floor is, humbly, yours...

I just had the same problem. Certainly not a waste of time. This is a design flaw, and you were kind enough to find it so others of us would have a documented solution when we ran into it.

BTW, I didn't change the name of the camera's folder, I just put that folder in a box with quotes, so it's not about messing with the original folder name.

Interesting

Interesting

Thanks for saying it was the file path Character I guess some people do not know about those issues, I should maybe say something about that also in my Docs.

I don't know why but some people like to rename folders used by my programs and then when nothing works they blame me(?).

You should also know that there are restrictions on the characters that can be used on files and folders that are stored on a CD-R.

I had a bunch of problems because when under Windows (tm) if you save a file that is read/write to a CD-R then copy it to another computer's harddrive Windows (tm) changes it from read/write to read only, then you get errors if you try to open and close the file with changes. That can be fixed with the ATTR command from the prompt, but it is a big pain every time you move files from one computer to another.

I had placed the .RDM folder in a folder titled "Chicken & sheep", and that what stuffed it.
