Hi
Can I bring Red Rushes into the applications bin on the G4 and transcode there? Then copy the .mov files to my quad and edit? To be clear -- I do not want to cut Red footage on a G4, just use it to transcode while I do other work on my quad tower. Thanks.

Sorry, needs to be intel. (full names please)

Hi, I don't want to edit anything on my G4, I use FCP 7. Just wanted to maximize the equipment gathering dust in my studio. Thought I could put it to use. Thanks anyway.

OK, one other question: I am cutting a short which is all shot on greenscreen, it will require Flash animation comps to complete. At what offline resolution should I be working at offline, and what rez should I output to for optimal quality [standard] DVD? Would it be different output rez for Blu ray? The project is About 12 minutes long. Thanks

Graeme, why does it have to be Intel?

Is it performance? Special instruction sets?

Did you ever have an internal version that was hardware agnostic?

Please note: I am not asking for a version for other hardware, I'm just curious.

I suppose another question I have is why there isn't a Linux version? In fact I wondered if you guys ever considered a version/distribution of Linux designed specifically for the task of processing RED footage? In this way the system would boot up, process RED footage and be otherwise of limited use. Not bad for a DIT workstation.

I suspect the answer to the last is purely engineering cost/effort compared to small user demand, but well... I'm curious.

there are many reasons why we haven't supported G4 since the beginning, the main one being we don't want you to kill yourself after seeing how slow it runs on a G4.

We do release the SDK on Linux.
