I'm thinking of buying a rocket x, but don't want to get boned and have it NOT work with the weapon sensor which is surly to come shortly after the new body...

has anyone talked about this yet?

I believe the weapon is a body upgrade, not a sensor upgrade. My understanding is that the Rocket-X does the same kind of R3D transcode that a GPU does, so it should not become obsolete like the old Red Rocket, which was an over-clocked atomics card.

jarred said somewhere on RU rocket x works with it...i was also wondering myself

yes I know its starting off as a body upgrade, but will more than likely quickly get a new sensor as well

The major changes to the Dragon and R3D codec allows for better compression and a better debayer process; but made it not compatible with the old Red Rocket which used a lot of shortcuts in it's debayer process, and which are no longer needed with the current generation of GPU's and the Rocket-X. The only way the Rocket-X would become obsolete is if Red stopped using the current R3D codec, which I don't see happening any time soon.

I guess the other question is will the new GTX titan-X get decent 1/2 debater transcode speeds?

Right Now I'm using an original GTX titan, and I need to do 1/4th in order to get up to the 30fps range
