We have a non-functioning RR card - has been dropped and suffered some damage around the fan, looks to be a couple of connectors/solders broken. Out of warranty with RED & they cannot economically repair. Anyone have experience in fixing these?

its cheaper to buy a new one. Check the "Battle Tested" section of the Red Store. They frequently have them for around $3500

Yes, we've replaced it already. Just have the damaged card sitting here & wanted to see if any fellow Redusers are particularly good with a soldering iron!

If RED couldn't repair it for less than a couple thousand bucks then I assume there is more damage than just the fan leads disconnected. If it's just the fan leads I could easily fix it.

and if u fix it and its for sale afterwards I would buy it for a good price! i need one of those buggers badly...

I can give it a shot.. if you got nothing to lose.. Ive fixed video cards before...

I actually have a full facility that does electronic components and specializes in circuit boards..

I can have the entire board re-soldered (with machines.. not by hand), and if there is a blown component, I might be able to find out what it is and have that part replaced...

Im actually interested in seeing if I can get these things back to life, because it seems the redrockets are pretty weak in terms of durability.. I hear about them dying more often than not, and would love to be able to start a little red rocket repair biz.

Broken RedRocket Card

Broken RedRocket Card

Hi, I am actually looking to buy a broken RedRocket card. Sounds strange I know. However I was quoted $3000 to fix my current one, so i'm looking for a broken one now to solve the problem myself. Please contact me if you have a card you would like to sell.
Thanks,
Michael

I have a card I thought was broken, but may have just been incompatibility with osx in a magma chassis a couple years ago. I just plugged it into my nMP the other day and it seems to be working. Will do further testing but I probably will sell it as I don't really need it these days.

If anyone has a broken beyond repair Redrocket, one not worth fixing, Please message me. I would like to buy for parts.
Thanks,
Michael
