Hi,

I have recently had a few problems with my Red Rocket and have come across another and was wondering if anyone else has had this issue or has a fix for me.

When I don't have the rocket initialized in RedCine it will decode fine, but when I switch it on it causes there to be glitches in the image as it plays back. This is not an issue with the original footage as it plays fine with out the Rocket. I have attached a picture for an example.

Is there a way to fix this?

My system is:
Macbook Pro 2011
Sonnet Echo Express Pro
Thunderbolt connection
Running the latest firmware and drivers for the Rocket
Updated Red Cine to 17

yikes, do these image problems only occur when the rocket is connected ? or could this be a camera issue ? have you tried viewing the footage on a different machine ?
you can "hard reset" your redrocket firmware, maybe this will help, the instructions for that are posted here on the forum somewhere.

This seems to only happen when the rocket is connected. I can transcode with out the rocket and the footage looks fine on playback but have not done a transcode of a clip yet. When I transcode using the rocket the artifacts are present. What does a Hard Reset do? Does that bring it back to the base firmware?

The driver and the firmware didn't fix the problem. Is there any other options besides "Hard Reseting" The Firmware?

have you tried another thunderbolt cable? Tried the card in another enclosure? Try to isolate what the actual cause is, because it's not for sure the Rocket card itself.

Have you tried your enclosure with another system to test? Try testing as many configurations as possible to isolate the issue.

This happened to me as well, same problem with any system i use, whether its Mac Pro tower, or thunderbolt enclosures. I hope your rocket is still under warranty.

I have tried another cable, and I have tried another system, the one thing I did not think of was the enclosure itself but I see a lot of people are having problems with the Sonnet enclosure but none of them are having this one. I will see if I can find someone with a system that I can install the card in and hopefully that will fix the problem...

It is under warranty but I don't want to go through the hassle if I can find a resolution for it outside of RMA.
