Hi all, I've a question that will probably look stupid but I'm a bit confused with the use of the Red Rocket.
My camera is in the upgrade department now and I need to quickly decide if I want to take the Red Rocket bundle offer.
If I add a Red Rocket to my 12-Core Mac Pro, can I edit my Red native footage after log and transfer without render in FCP7 or does this card just improve the transcoding time?
I've been looking everywhere on the forum for a couple of weeks now and I can't find any answer... or maybe my English is too limited.

FCP does not support the RED Rocket at this time, not even for L&T. There is a beta plug-in for Apple Color which uses the Rocket.

Rocket can transcode via REDCINE-X. Rocket is also natively supported by Adobe CS5, DaVinci Resolve, STORM, and a few others.

basicly a rocket helps to transcode with fulldebayer in realtime, same goes for playback.
buy the rocket if you shoot a lot and dont want to wait...

didnt know that resolve can use a roxket for playback, thought its kicking in when transcodes are needed like in avid mc

Vincent,

I use FCP, and I use the Rocket daily. I do all my transcodes via RedcineX using the Rocket and then into FCP for editing/mastering.

Wouldn't want to go a single day without it.

can i preview via red rocket while i'm editing on FCP?
