Red Rentals in the UK

None taken. just looking out for the rest of us....(shh..don't tell anyone...Can I rent your Red at that quoted rate mate? )

:)

Rental is very subjective anyway. A good rental house can usually demand a bit more because they have the backup of extra cameras and so on.

An individual might not have such luxuries, nor the array of accessories, usually including a wide variety of quality lenses etc.

An individual's prices might be based around their experience, the shooting package they can put together as well as any other services that can be tied in, such as post work.

I think there will be a variety of different prices for rental all over the globe, certain areas will find individuals have a monopoly, but they will likely have lower demand. In the UK I can see prices chopping and changing dependent on the renter and the rentee. If a good rental house can offer a decent package with backup, or multiple cameras and so on then larger productions will be happy to use them and pay more. Individuals that can only offer a low end shooting package might rent more to smaller or indie productions and the price tag would and should reflect that. Professionals will pay for a professional service, just as indies will pay less for a representative service.

£250 seems to be inline with the kind of prices companies and individuals are putting on the rental of the red body in the US. $500 a day looks to be round about, maybe add in VAT to compensate as a final figure. Like I say though, depending on your experience and what else you can offer you might want to charge more or you might want to charge less. Like any market though it pisses people off if someone comes along and starts offering it for such low prices that there is little point doing it. Being reasonable, but of course avoiding price fixing should be a concern of anyone getting in or already in the game.

well spoken Paul. I will not be in the rental game, thank god. Only if I get a request and I will be DP for people I know. :)

Hi Rory,
have e-mailed you.
best

Hello potential Red Owners: I have a shoot in June in Indonesia - probably too early for a RED rental so it's a long shot but since I'm putting a deposit down at the Nab 07 I'd love to try one out. I have my own Super 16 Canon lenses and distagons etc so just looking for a Red body. Not much to ask, is it? If anyone's interested in hiring to me for around a 4 week period please contact.
Many thanks.
