hi, due to get a RED cam in about two weeks or so.

I know there were some initial teething toubles with the earlier models. Units not starting up and so forth. Have these issues been rectified with the newer models?

Thanks

Cant speak for everyone but #2322 went directly onto a feature only 4 days after it's arrival and worked 12-14 hours every day for 4 weeks without a hickup! No codec errors, never overheated (had it running in over 100 degree heat at times) and never let the production down or made them pause in any way! Two days after the feature it went on an E-40 music video and was pushed in many ways including heat. We were in some HOT scenarios where I thought the camera might have it's first problem. But, no icepacks needed to be used and the camera never overheated once. Overall it's been a great start

#2680 drop frames on CF card. Over a hundred frames each time.
Everything else look fine.

Have you contacted RED Tech Support?
Have you checked the CF reader/writer for bent pins/damage?
Feel free to contact me directly.

2434 working flawlessly! Boots 100% of the time, doesn't drop frames, couldn't imagine a better camera.

please contact sean about the cf card reader, he fixed the one I used used on my feature it performs flawlessly now

#508's been 99.8% flawless since day one. The only issues I have ever had are the well-known occasional failure to boot (simply requiring power off and back on), and the LCD stutter, though I haven't seen that since upgrading to Build 16.

You have no idea how amazing these guys are. I had a very minor problem with my charger cable and Brent responded to both my forum entry and support ticket within 10 minutes when it was 10p.m. in California! By the next morning they had Fed Exed a new cable to me in Sydney, which arrived the next day after. These guys are like nothing I've ever seen! :alien:

Just kidding - I like him right where he is, building kick butt cameras!

I've noticed some minor things in newer bodies. The joystick seems more responsive. Mine occasionally doesn't work to the left side. Were there other hardware improvements made? Are there hardware differences between newer and older bodies. I have the booting issue enough to make it annoying for sure. RED?

Warren, your joystick probably isn't sitting correctly on its throat if it doesn't move to the left properly. You'll need to undo it with the small allen key provided and move it until it sits perfectly into its groove.

Notice my new signature!

Got my RED mid January. One problem in March. No problem since then (except the occasional 2x-boot-procedure).
VERY responsive problem handling by RED. My lcd broke in half during transport (extremely rough conditions on set). 24 hours later a replacement was in Canada.
