Okay -
I am just now starting to contemplate the ramifications of Red Ray. When I fist saw it (the image & mock up)- I really couldn't fully "process" it - part of me was laughing on the inside how it was just a brilliant FU to "Blu Ray" and the other half of me was contemplating moving to Canada so I can start drinking whatever the hell Graeme is drinking .... (how the HELL are they getting that many pixels onto that disc?!)
So, this morning while I was in the shower I started thinking about Red Ray (not sure where Freud would fall out on that) ... so here is what I want the most -
PLEASE have timecode out.
PLEASE have RS232 or RS422 machine control.
IF these features can't work in the "under $1000" unit - (I think you guys can do it) - then PLEASE develop AT THE SAME TIME a RED RAY PRO unit that will ... charge more - doesn't matter. You will sell them faster than you can make them (sound familiar).
IF you do make a RED RAY PRO please also add 4 audio EBU out. Or just do a connector to a Break Out Box aka Kona, etc.
It would also not be the dumbest move on the planet to allow two units to SLAVE together for 3D and other applications (digital signage, etc.) - maybe have a common location on the disc that is your "sync point", etc.
Anyway, I have officially started thinking about this - more to come!
