Attempting to describe RED RAY to my wife, she had just one question: Can I watch Netflix on it?

Go figure... is the world ready for 4K?

Mike

The way Netflix runs their company... I'd be surprised if they're still in business when RED RAY sees it's release ;)

But I would seriously doubt that RED would release a device without internet connectivity given their excitement around youTube's ability to stream 4K and hints they've dropped about SD card sized movies in 4K - seems perfect to download right to built in hard drive. I don't think people's desire to stream/download content is lost on RED.

But then, I really have no idea.

One of my friends couldn't understand what was the big fuss about blu-ray, to him standard def DVDs were perfectly fine. Until he saw the difference for himself.

A bit of the same when IMAX came out. All cases of "have to see it to believe it" I guess. Once they do, they're hooked. :)

I don't think she is too far off. Stuart English and Ted keep saying the best way to get content on a REDRAY machine is with a thumb drive or to download it. It might not be able to stream real time but Netflix could have REDRAY movies that could be downloaded to a REDRAY machine and than deleted within a couple hours of watching it.

I remember excitedly explaining Red Ray to people over 2 1/2 years ago. What's the deal with that thing? Is it still on the road map?

OFFHOLLYWOOD: I still can't believe what I saw at Red Studios Hollywood today. The new product is so amazing - I'm still in shock. #r3d #redray

My guess is that they've seen it
