While I'd rather the good folks at Red work on inching my next camera toward delivery, I'd love to see an updated website with a flash component that would let me build Epic and scarlet configurations with modules, and grip accessories, Nato rigs, etc. Kind of like those Auto sites that let you configure your car with roof racks, wheels, colors, etc. and then spin them around to check them out.

Living near Silicon Valley, I know that that is no small project in itself.

I'd be cool though!

The real response to this is "So what? It's a mistake, an oversight. And a minor one at that; one with very little, if any consequence." And it has NOTHING to do with the overall effectiveness or capability of RED as an enterprise.

Right now there are more than 3,000 people on this forum. There are nearly 35,000 members of this forum. There are well over 600,000 posts and every day a very lively discussions takes place; all centered around the remarkable technology that RED is bringing to this business. There is even dissent and disagreement. But nearly all of what is posted here is based on knowledge and fact and most people take the time to either research the facts or ask for them.

As Jeff points out, RED has delivered more than 8,000 cameras and upgraded very many of those with a new, advanced sensor. I sincerely doubt you'd find many, if even one, dissatisfied RED owner. Epic is doing things no camera has ever done before. The RED products are nothing short of a paradigm shift. And there are probably tens of thousands of people poised to purchase the next few products RED introduces as soon as they are available.

I have never heard of Philip Johnston before today but, given the clueless blog he wrote, I am certain that he doesn't have the journalistic skills to fulfill the role he suggests for himself. He has no CREDIBILITY. He suggests he knows what is happening by making a few observations - no real research, and it would seem his powers of observation are not all that keen at that. He seems to be that species of blogger that we all hear about; opinionated and verbose but with nothing of value to say. What's really sad is that he gets this kind of attention just by making a completely clueless claim. Philip, congratulations on your 15 minutes of fame. Now, goodbye.

Sadly some of you are just small minded and lacking in IQ.

It just seems that way, just as one might perceive your blog article.

Why the hate, Philip? There's enough room in the sandbox. :cheers2:

Cool. Turns out I also became an Engineer, but not lacking IQ...yet. Now I have a paradox envy.

I laughed a lot reading your blog Philip. Really.

Or more like the custom sunglasses section of the Oakley website. Made picking my custom root beer/gold iridium flak jacket real easy :)

I'm thoroughly against the trolling but there are some valid points being made here. The RED website is the first point of contact with potential customers, partners and users.

Having a product picture on the front page saying 2009 for this long just doesn't look good. Only saying this because I care about the company :)

Apparently a 3K RAW 120fps camera, possibly with HDR, "doesn't stand a chance" against an AVCHD prosumer camcorder, since the only thing real DPs care about is large sensors and being able to shoot right out of the box. You shouldn't have to spend time learning to use a camera before you shoot right? Nope, beautiful images should just come right out when you push the red button. Hell, Peter Jackson should just shoot The Hobbit on an iPhone 4. Then he won't have to pay all those damned engineers.
