I'm fairly new to render farms, however at my school I have access to a lab with 24 iMacs all loaded with FCP and on the same network.

Is it possible (and/or is their a guide) to link all these computers into a render farm for getting ProRes output from the RAW files?

Yes and No.

Only one computer can create one quicktime. However if you have lots of r3d files then you can use Frantic Film's Deadline in tandem with REDLine to queue up a bunch of conversions.

Since most r3d files are 3 minutes or less this is probably your best bet and wouldn't be too much of a bottleneck.
