Hi guys,

I'm new on this forum since it's the first time i'm gonna use the Red One.
I'm working for a dutch post production company.
In may we will start editing a 90 mins movie.
We are testing the workflow (Final Cut Pro and Lustre)

By importing the quicktime proxies in FCP I already have a problem.
The clips will not play real time (orange bar in timeline)
Timeline settings: unlimited RT and low
I'm using MacOSX 10.5.4 FCP 6.0.4 Quicktime 7.5.5 and latest Red software

I prefer using the proxies instead of Transcoding to ProRes 422

can anyone help me

thanks a lot

What is your sequence output set to? If you set it to Redcode, you should have realtime playback, however, you can't render to Redcode, so you'll have to switch over to ProRes or something else at that point and render the timeline once you start adding effects.

I tend to dis-recommend using the QT proxies for offline editing. Aside from the degradation of visual quality (not necessarily an issue for an offline, of course), my experience editing with proxy files in FCP is a lot of instability and application crashes.

If at all possible, take the time to crunch some ProRes (or other) "dailies" from your R3D media.
