Perfection is good enough !

I'm happy to report that after a quick check up with Dr. Lens ( www.ducloslenses.com ) that the Red Pro Prime set that I picked up last week is 100% - the marks are right on, no backlash, it's perfectly clean inside the optics, focus is butter, no image shift - everything optical and mechanical looks to be perfect.

Thanks Guys ! You totally Nailed it.

Thank you Matt for the report..

Is that pinch from the RPP, from the camera you shot the projection with, or just an optical illusion?

Awesome! Thanks Matt. Look forward to seeing what you shoot on it, as always.

BTW, I wonder if RED is now going to go back and re-do the 18-50 zoom? Or has the QC improved on that? I guess if they did some new Pro Zooms they'd make them have full-frame coverage too.

Back on topic, thanks a lot for letting us know.

Where do you get those rails? The kind you find on Richter collimators, etc.

I played with the 18-85 at reduser party, Id defintely call that a PRO zoom.

thats what it was touted as, but notice the chatter has all but died on it? i've heard grumblings about QC on the zoom. That and as previously mentioned, the 18-85 doesn't even cover x35 (5k), so Reds marketign on Epic pretty much obsoletes it. That last detail is what sealed my mind to not get it.

Great deal for me
