  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Pro 18-85 Real World Experience?

As I've said many times in this forum, I don't like to solicit or plug services or products.
But since a lot of people here agree that the cap on the 18-85mm is less than perfect, I would like to extend a limited discount to REDUSERS.

For the rest of January, call or email DuclosLenses to get our RED 18-85mm Solid Delrin Front Cap for $75.
Just remember to mention that Matthew Duclos sent you. :)
It would be remiss of me not to order one after your generous offer, so I've sent you an email :)

Cheers from Japan!

Paul

We don't have them sitting in stock at the moment but give us a call and we can have one for you if you wanted to stop by.

I got my lens. I got lens support and handle from Optitek, a must have. I ordered the lens cap from Duclos also a must have.

Real world experience? I don't have any, I have been driving around and ordering all the things that should have come from Red. I did manage to put the lens on a projector and was impressed with the minimal breathing and that the lens could resolve to the sensors capability throughout the zoom. Not bad mechanically.

Now that I can actually use the lens i am going to be shooting a few test comparing lots of different lens that I will post.

It's a good lens. Optics are good, had it side by side with a Optimo and no complaints. Mechanics are good.

I will throw it up on a projector soon, I'll even see if I can't take photos.

Great. Thanks!

May I ask when you ordered your lens? Were you in the original pre NAB serial numbered batch? If so, what number?

Look forward to the footage!

M
