Does anyone know of tools to facilitate a workflow like the following?

Shoot RED 4K
Prior to the edit, the director plays QT proxies to preselect shots;
director makes notes for editing, including:
clip (name), and where it came from
timecode info -- (ins/outs), bookmarks, etc.
notes for the editor (this is the best take but check audio, etc.)

How can we create and compile and store all this info, along with metadata from clips and RED camera (especially "look" info that DP created on the shoot) in one convenient place for use later in editing?

We would be grateful for any knowledge anyone could share on this.

Thanks, Tom R

Seems to me a laptop with Final Cut on it, a pen, and paper would do this. Open up the camera created proxies, drag into Final Cut, and play them. If you want it more automated, have the director learn enough about Final Cut to create a timeline of his selected shots and put notes on them (use markers for this).

Check out Clipfinder 2.0 (available as a free download).

It's really a FCP conform tool of sorts, but it's also great for quickly opening and viewing entire folders of shots, creating a selects list, making comments, etc. It might help with some of what you're trying to accomplish.

In regards to look info the D.P. wants to pass on to Post, how is he creating the look references? Red Alert? Red Cine? Other?
