  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Power to Dtap cable?

It could be made but I would not suggest this. Most D-Tap ports are rated to about 70 watts. The RED One draws about 80 watts. You will either blow the fuse or fry something.

i'm mounting RedOne on a steadicam flyer and want to power the red from the red bricks hosted at the bottom.
yes, dtap wont hold up looks like

how about Male lemo port cable to RED Power as on the pic attached?

I made a little pigtail adapter cable that has a 2-pin Lemo connector on one end for my Steadicam, and a 4-pin XLR female connector on the other end. Then I made another adapter cable with 4-pin XLR male and 6-pin Lemo male for RED power. With these two cables connected together, I can power the RED from my Steadicam. When I'm off Steadicam I have the flexibility of being able to use the 4-pin to RED adapter with any 4-pin XLR power source.

i got a referral from steadicam forums of Terry West 310.374.5711
He will help make necessary wires as well as help pair up the batteries at the bottom on my flyer.

Lentequip's power splitter is built in 4 pin XLR input, so you could power the red one with the original 12 Volt Xlr power cable that comes with that specific steadicam for 12 volt cameras.

check it out.

I know this is an old topic but I wanted to make sure the information was still accurate. Is it still not recommended to Power the Red One with a D-Tap to Lemo 6 pin?
