Hey guys,

I want to make the RED more comfortable for handheld. My plan is to shoot on CF cards and power the camera from a battery belt so I can strip all the weight of the top (including that awkward cradle).

So, I bought a battery belt with a 4-pin XLR female connection. Now I need to bridge the gap between the XLR and the RED power input. Does anybody know where I can get this or who may be able to make it?

Thanks much,
Chase

The RED charger comes with a shunt cable to use the charger as an AC power adaptor. I think it is a cable of very little use. So, if you have a separate AC power adaptor and/or more than a RED charger, you may change one of the Lemo connectors (both are the same) of this cable and install a Cannon XLR 4 male connector. The polarity is printed in the Red manual, under "coonectors" I think. The Cannon polarity is standard, terminals 1 and 4 (can´t remember now which is + or - but it is well known). Then you have the cable you need for just a few bucks, and you get a spare Lemo connector...

Or do what we did, and cut it in half and attach XLR4 to the new ends. Two cables for the price of one! Sort of.

Can anyone point me to battery plates and belts that this would work with? Would also like to use it to power LEDz lights, which also have 4-pin.

Thanks!

FYI both Monstercine and We have XLR connectors on the end not both. This cable is for other power sources not anything to do with the RED charger.

We have these cables in stock for sale in both our NY & LA offices.

Can anyone make also the possibility of seeing on the Red LCD the status of the power like the Red brick has?

Can one get a right angle Lemo 6 pin power plug?

Working through the Lemo site it looks like it does exist:

P/N: FHG2B306CLAD62

I've already run into trouble with the straight plug when trying to get the camera into really tight spaces, it would be great to see this as an option along side the other lemo to 4pin cables.

Check out the Filmuloid or www.dvshop.ca they make nice Y Xlr Power cables
